ESIP's first comments on Europe's Beating Cancer Plan

ESIP welcomes the initiative of the European Commission to raise the profile of health at EU level, in particular with the future Europe's Beating Cancer Plan.

ESIP supports and promotes a holistic approach to health and welcomes this approach underpinning the Plan. Healthcare payers have consistently advocated, most recently in our position paper on the future of EU health policy, for greater attention to several aspects which are keeping with the main elements of the future Plan. Those include taking on a health in all policies approach, supporting the exchange of best practices in prevention and health promotion, improving access to cancer treatments and clinical trials by guaranteeing affordable medicines, and public return on public investment, and improving digital health literacy to make the most of digital tools without the risk of exclusion. In addition, as social insurers we would like to stress that the connected issues of return to work of cancer survivors and the quality of life and work-life balance of carers should also be taken into account.
